Last year, the u12 girls made the u12 boys look foolish. The boys still won I believe, but only because they physically dominated the girls, And the girls permitted it to happen, out of politeness I assume. They outshot and out-passed them though. There are a number of very professional players on the team who have experience beyond AYSO and WBSC. We will see how they do. It should be exiting. Regardless of score, defensive performed very well. There was little or no offensive drive. They are the best team I have seen that substituted players at the direction of the coach. Big areas that Coach Cranmer will be working on this week: Field Position, name them, and what position is responsible for what Winning the ball Throw-ins I will also be testing the girls concerning field position. A few girls are confused when it comes to definitions of the field positions. As Coach Cranmer likes all players to know all positions, and enjoys the tool of substitution, all players must understand all positions. There will be a test on Thursday. No really. We lack this ability. Without it, well, you know the rest. Get outside with your player, throw the ball into the air, and make them trap and move the ball. All hope is not lost, as there was definite improvement between when practice started and when it ended. Meet up will be at the Sheetz, in Mill Hall, at 12:00 noon, and leave by 12:10. And arrive at the field ? hour before the game, at 1:40 PM. Coach Cranmer has new field positions and tactics for this game, we shall see how we do. Remind your players that field position is meaningless, if you cannot kick, trap and pass the ball. -tom Directions to Smith Field.
